The Tunicab story

2019: Five vehicles, tow airport
Samir Aloui launched Tunicab in January 2019 with three sedans and a single point of coverage: Tunis-Carthage Airport. Karim Selmi was the first welcome agent, and he still is. In June 2019, Amine Soussi opened Monastir airport, the second airport, with tow other vehicles.

2019–2020: seven vehicles, three airports
The fleet grew to seven vehicles. Enfidha-Hammamet joined the network in january 2020 (Amir Ayari). The service now covered the north, Cap Bon, and the island of Djerba, enough to chain airport transfers and intercity trips across all three regions.

2020–2023: the COVID years
Tunisian tourism came to a halt. Tunicab kept its team and its vehicles, but activity stayed low. That's why the cumulative total since 2019 around 11,000 trips and 30,000 travelers, reflects three years of crisis before two years of strong growth.

2021: the Sahel completed
In April 2021, Amine Soussi opened Djerba-Zarzis,completed coverage of the four international airports. The fleet grew to ten vehicles. The founding idea: a fixed price confirmed before the ride, flight tracking, and a driver waiting with a name sign in hand. The opposite of the yellow taxi outside the terminal.

2025: 7,000 trips, 22,000 travelers
The post-COVID rebound was fast: In 2025 alone, Tunicab handled more than two-thirds of its total volume since launch, driven by the growing fleet and full coverage of all four airports. Fourteen vehicles, four welcome agents, ten drivers including two women. 3,000 airport transfers, 1,500 intercity trips, 2,500 excursions.

Licensed tourist taxi under the Tunisian Ministry of Transport
Tunicab is not a yellow taxi, a louage (shared taxi), or an online booking platform. It is a licensed tourist transport operator, a category regulated by the Tunisian Ministry of Transport through the Technical Agency for Land Transport (ATTT).
What is a licensed tourist taxi?
A licensed tourist taxi is a transport company authorized to carry travelers in a tourism context: airport transfers, tours, excursions, and chauffeur-driven trips. The ATTT license sets requirements on vehicles (condition, air conditioning, insurance), drivers (license, training), and the company (registration, tax compliance). A yellow taxi or a louage is not held to the same requirements , and an online platform is held to none, since it doesn't transport anyone itself.

The bodies that license us
ATTT — Technical Agency for Land Transport The body of the Tunisian Ministry of Transport responsible for regulating land transport. The ATTT license certifies that Tunicab meets the vehicle, safety, and staffing standards required for tourist transport. It's the license that sets a professional transport operator apart from an unregulated provider.
ONTT — Tunisian National Tourism Office The government body responsible for regulating and promoting tourism activities in Tunisia. Tunicab is a registered member of the ONTT.
